Obama Goes After Trump Again After Key Elections Called…#

Former President Barack Obama celebrated opposition victories in Hungary’s elections while the Trump administration’s preferred candidate faced defeat, reigniting tensions between the two former presidents over Iran policy and other matters.

Prime Minister Victor Orban’s administration lost to left-wing candidate Peter Magyar in recent Hungarian elections despite Vice President JD Vance’s last-minute campaign visit to support the incumbent. Obama posted on social media that the election results represented “a victory for democracy, not just in Europe but around the world.”

What Happened

Obama wrote on X that Magyar’s victory demonstrated “a testament to the resilience and determination of the Hungarian people – and a reminder to all of us to keep striving for fairness, equality and the rule of law.” The former president did not comment directly on Trump’s involvement in the election.

The outcome marked another flashpoint in the ongoing public disagreement between Obama and the Trump administration. Obama has opposed Trump on multiple fronts in recent weeks, from redistricting efforts in various states to statements following the death of Rev. Jesse Jackson.

The Iran Nuclear Deal Returns to Center Stage

Trump used remarks at the FII PRIORITY Summit on Friday to attack Obama’s 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, which the current president withdrew from during his first term. “That Barack Hussein Obama, did you ever hear of him? He had the Iran nuclear deal,” Trump said, according to video from the event.

Trump claimed Obama sent “two Boeing 757 jetliners” with $1.7 billion in cash to Iran. “They took the seats out and they piled it with cash, like 1.7 billion of cash,” Trump stated.

Obama had previously justified the payment as money owed to Iran under a legal settlement related to a failed 1979 arms deal before the Islamic Revolution. Trump disputed this characterization, saying, “You know, there wasn’t a bank in DC, Virginia, or Maryland that had any money after that disaster.”

Current Military Operations

Trump’s remarks came as the United States and Israel entered the fourth week of Operation Epic Fury, aimed at degrading Iran’s military capabilities. Trump has claimed Iran is actively rebuilding its nuclear weapons program.

“If I didn’t terminate it, they would have had a nuclear weapon long ago, and they would have used it on the Middle East, Israel,” Trump said of his decision to withdraw from the nuclear deal.
