Ashley Biden, the daughter of former President Joe Biden, filed for divorce from her husband of 13 years in Pennsylvania on Monday.

The 44-year-old submitted divorce documents to Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas, ending her marriage to Dr. Howard Krein, a plastic surgeon. Biden and Krein married in June 2012 in Greenville, Delaware, after being introduced by Ashley’s late brother Beau in 2010.

The couple maintained privacy throughout their marriage, rarely discussing their relationship publicly. During the 2024 Democratic National Convention, Ashley spoke about her wedding while introducing her father, saying, “At the time, my dad was vice president, but he was also that dad who literally set up the entire reception.”
