The incident occurred at the intersection of 15th Street and Independence Avenue in the nation’s capital. According to Secret Service Deputy Director Mathew C. Quinn, the shooting took place minutes after the vice president had departed the area.

“He attempted to assassinate the president of the United States, Donald J. Trump,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Jocelyn Ballantine told the court, requesting preventative detention for Allen. U.S. Attorney Jacqueline Pirro stated at a press conference that “there will be additional charges as this investigation continues to unfold.”
