A security breach at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington forced the emergency evacuation of President Donald Trump and other senior officials after an armed intruder attempted to breach the event on April 25, 2026.

The incident unfolded approximately 20 minutes into the annual gathering at the Washington Hilton hotel. Law enforcement identified the suspect as Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old teacher and video game developer from Torrance, California.

Allen was armed with a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives when he rushed a security checkpoint in an attempt to reach the main ballroom. Secret Service agents intercepted him in the hotel lobby before he could access the crowded event space.

What Happened

During the confrontation, gunfire erupted between the suspect and Secret Service personnel. Allen was subdued on the ground, and one Secret Service agent sustained a gunshot wound at close range.
