Here Who Is Likely To Replace Lindsey Graham – For Now…##@!

President Trump recommended South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster appoint Lindsey Graham’s sister, Darline Graham Nordone, as the state’s interim U.S. senator following Graham’s death.

McMaster announced Monday he would make the formal appointment at 4 p.m. The interim position lasts until January, unless Nordone chooses to seek a full term, which current reporting does not indicate she plans to do.

Graham legally adopted and raised Nordone as a teenager after both their parents died in rapid succession. “This would be a fabulous tribute to Lindsey, who loved her dearly,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Monday morning.

The Political Landscape

The appointment does not affect the Republican primary process to select Graham’s permanent replacement. Candidate filing opens July 28th, and the Cook Political Report rates the seat solidly Republican in both the primary and general election against Democrat Annie Andrews in November.

Graham’s death creates significant vacancies in Senate leadership. He chaired the Senate Budget Committee and served as one of Washington’s most influential voices on foreign policy at a critical moment for Middle East engagement.

A Family Story

Nordone’s appointment recognizes the bond between the siblings and honors Graham’s defining act of personal character decades before he spent thirty years in the Senate. The interim role allows the state to maintain continuity while the Republican primary determines Graham’s long-term successor.
