There’s Been A New Update On Talks With Iran And It’s Not Good

Iran’s Assembly of Experts has issued a religious decree calling for the deaths of President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, marking an escalation in rhetoric from Tehran’s leadership.

The 88-member Assembly of Experts, a body constitutionally responsible for selecting and overseeing Iran’s supreme leader, released a 10-point statement declaring the two leaders “deserving of death.” The statement characterized killing “the wicked prime minister of the Zionist regime” and “the criminal American president” as a religious duty that must be executed “under any circumstances.”

What the Statement Says

The clerics framed the call as retaliation for the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, describing vengeance as a matter of “paramount” importance. The declaration carries significant symbolic weight, as the Assembly of Experts represents Iran’s highest religious authority.

The rhetoric has extended beyond official channels. Iranian newspaper Hamshahri published a front-page image of Trump’s face positioned in a rifle’s crosshairs, accompanied by the headline “Revenge is certain.”

Escalating Tensions

The threats emerge as negotiations between Iran and Western powers remain stalled. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has continued attacking commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and conducting military operations targeting neighboring nations.

Security officials are monitoring the credibility of the threats against both leaders, particularly given Iran’s military capabilities and resources. The statements represent a significant departure from typical diplomatic language between the nations.
