The family of a federal laboratory employee whose remains were discovered in a New Mexico national forest over a year after her disappearance is challenging investigators’ conclusion that she died by suicide.

The woman failed to report to work, stopped at her daughter’s home, and then disappeared without explanation. Family members say investigators uncovered circumstances inconsistent with a voluntary disappearance, fueling their skepticism about the official narrative.

Discovery and Initial Findings

A hiker found human remains in the McGaffey Ridge area of Carson National Forest over the weekend. New Mexico State Police confirmed the remains belonged to the woman on Saturday.

A handgun was recovered near where her body was found, a detail that has drawn significant attention. Her purse, driver’s license, and multiple cellphones were all recovered separately, none on her person.
