Harvard Law School professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz is urging Congress to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s 2019 death in federal custody and release all documents connected to the case.

Dershowitz, who previously represented Epstein, made the appeal during a Newsmax appearance on Wednesday. He asked the House Oversight Committee to convene a public hearing where he could testify about the circumstances surrounding the financier’s death in jail.

What Dershowitz Is Demanding

Dershowitz argued that full disclosure of case materials is essential to answer unresolved questions about Epstein’s death and the people involved in his circle. He specifically called for the release of all documents, including the names of individuals who have made accusations against those in Epstein’s network.

“Withholding accusers’ identities prevents those accused from defending themselves,” Dershowitz said. He contended that secrecy obscures critical details about key elements of the investigation.

Dershowitz also demanded transparent inquiries into Epstein’s properties, particularly his New Mexico compound known as Zorro Ranch. He noted that while certain names, including former President Bill Clinton, appear in publicly released documents, the identities of accusers tied to those references remain redacted.

Dershowitz’s Defense

Dershowitz firmly rejected an allegation from an unnamed woman who claimed she provided him a massage aboard Epstein’s aircraft. He stated the accuser was not a minor and denied ever being on Epstein’s plane with a young woman.

“It’s defamation and a total lie,” Dershowitz said. He emphasized that he cannot adequately defend himself without knowing his accuser’s identity, reinforcing his broader push for transparency.

The Broader Context

Dershowitz’s statements coincide with a federal prison guard’s preparation to testify before Congress regarding his failure to monitor Epstein before the financier’s death. The renewed emphasis on disclosure reflects intensifying public focus on Epstein’s associates and escalating demands for greater access to investigation materials.
