Trump Admin Asks SCOTUS to Allow Deportation of 350,000 Haitians….#

The U.S. Department of Justice has asked the Supreme Court of the United States to allow the administration to move forward with ending deportation protections for more than 350,000 Haitian immigrants currently living in the country under Temporary Protected Status (TPS). The request, filed Wednesday, marks the latest development in ongoing legal disputes over the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s effort to terminate TPS designations for several countries. If the designation is removed, many immigrants who currently benefit from the program could become eligible for deportation. The Supreme Court has already allowed the administration to scale back similar protections for Venezuelan migrants. A separate case involving Syrian immigrants is still pending before the court. Haiti first received TPS in 2010 following a devastating earthquake that killed more than 300,000 people and caused widespread destruction across the country. The designation allowed Haitians living in the United States to remain temporarily and obtain work authorization while conditions in their homeland stabilized. During his first administration, Donald Trump moved to end Haiti’s TPS designation. However, that effort became entangled in legal challenges and was never fully implemented before he left office. After returning to the presidency, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced plans to terminate Haiti’s TPS status, with the change scheduled to take effect on February 3. She said the move reflected confidence in Haiti’s progress and aligned with the administration’s broader foreign policy goal of encouraging a stable and self-reliant nation. But five Haitian nationals filed a lawsuit challenging the decision. U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes ruled last month to temporarily block the policy, citing concerns that the decision may have been influenced by improper considerations. The Justice Department argues the ruling could undermine numerous immigration policies and improperly limit executive authority over immigration decisions.

Dan Bongino FBI Deputy Director Appointment Reshapes Debate….#

The appointment of Dan Bongino as Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation has triggered intense debate in Washington. The decision by Donald Trump is widely viewed as a signal of a changing approach toward the nation’s intelligence agencies. For years, tensions have existed between conservative political figures and federal investigative institutions. Supporters of the move argue that bringing someone from outside the traditional FBI leadership structure could introduce fresh perspectives and strengthen accountability. Critics, however, warn that the decision risks further politicizing a key law-enforcement agency. Before entering the media world, Bongino served as an agent with the United States Secret Service, where he worked on protective details for national leaders. After leaving government service, he became a well-known conservative commentator and built a large audience through his podcast and radio program, The Dan Bongino Show. The controversy surrounding his appointment intensified after Bongino publicly criticized Adam Schiff during one of his broadcasts. He accused Schiff of promoting what he called the “Russia collusion hoax,” referring to investigations into alleged connections between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russian officials. Bongino argued the inquiry was politically motivated and intended to damage Trump’s presidency. The debate has also been influenced by a decision made by former President Joe Biden, who issued a controversial preemptive pardon linked to Schiff’s work on the United States House Select Committee on the January 6 Attack. As deputy director, Bongino has suggested he may initiate internal reviews of past investigations. Supporters say such efforts could restore trust in federal law enforcement, while critics fear they could deepen political divisions surrounding the FBI.
