CNN data analyst Harry Enten highlighted new polling that underscores the continued strength of President Donald Trump’s support within his core “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) base. Speaking on CNN News Central, Enten pointed to an NBC News survey showing Trump with a 100% approval rating among self-identified MAGA supporters—an unusually unanimous result that he said immediately stands out in modern polling.
Enten compared the level of support to the 1972 Miami Dolphins’ perfect season, emphasizing the rare degree of unity within that segment of the Republican Party. While acknowledging that some Republicans disapprove of Trump, he stressed that those individuals generally fall outside the MAGA movement. In his words, support among MAGA voters is effectively universal.
CNN anchor Sara Sidner raised the question of whether recent events, including U.S. military action against Iran, might be weakening Trump’s standing within his base. Enten rejected that idea, arguing that there is no evidence of declining support. Instead, he said the data reflects Trump’s continued dominance over the movement.
He also noted that the MAGA base itself appears to be growing. According to polling data, about 30% of Americans now identify with the movement, up slightly from late 2024. This suggests that Trump’s core coalition is not shrinking but expanding.
Enten further cited polling from multiple organizations indicating strong Republican backing for military action against Iran, including high levels of support among MAGA voters. While a few prominent allies have voiced criticism, the overall data shows consistent approval of Trump’s policies.
Looking ahead, Enten argued that the MAGA movement is likely to remain a powerful force within the Republican Party, even beyond Trump’s presidency, shaping its direction for years to come.
