Thirty-five days after Nancy Guthrie vanished from her home in Tucson’s Catalina Foothills, investigators continue searching for answers in a case that has deeply unsettled the community. The 84-year-old woman was last seen on January 31, 2026, after returning home from a family visit. According to her Uber driver, she arrived safely around 9:45 p.m., and the garage door closed behind her. That moment was the last confirmed sighting of Nancy.
In the early hours of February 1, several unusual events began to unfold. At 1:47 a.m., Nancy’s Nest doorbell camera suddenly disconnected. Authorities later confirmed that the device had been physically removed from the property. Initially investigators believed the footage was lost because the camera did not have a cloud subscription, but technicians later managed to recover several clips.
The recovered video shows a masked individual approaching the camera and covering the lens with leaves from a nearby plant. In another clip, the person appears to be holding a flashlight in their mouth while a firearm holster is visible on their waist. Investigators describe the suspect as a man roughly 5’9” to 5’10” tall with an average build, wearing a black mask, gloves, and carrying an Ozark Trail Hiker Pack backpack.
Additional clues emerged from Nancy’s medical device. At 2:28 a.m., her pacemaker monitoring app disconnected from her phone, suggesting she may have been moved away from the device. Around the same time, a Ring camera located about 2.5 miles from her home captured an unidentified vehicle driving through the area.
The FBI has also been investigating reports of internet outages in the neighborhood that same night. Several residents reported temporary disruptions, which may have affected nearby security cameras during the critical time period.
Complicating the investigation further, ransom messages demanding $6 million in Bitcoin were sent to local media outlets. However, authorities are still working to determine whether these messages are legitimate or simply scams.
As of early March, Nancy Guthrie’s whereabouts remain unknown. The FBI and local authorities continue to follow leads and have increased the reward for information to over $1 million. Investigators are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward as the search for answers continues.
