The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, an 84-year-old resident of Tucson, has taken a new and puzzling turn as investigators focus on possible technological interference on the night she vanished. Authorities from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are now examining whether internet disruptions in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood played a role in the incident.
Nancy was last seen on February 1, 2026, when her garage door closed at approximately 9:50 p.m. Investigators later discovered that her pacemaker, which was connected to her phone, stopped transmitting data at 2:28 a.m. This created a critical timeline that may point to the moment of her disappearance.
One of the key devices at Nancy’s home was her Google Nest Doorbell camera, positioned to monitor activity near the front porch. However, the device failed to capture any footage because the home did not have an active cloud subscription that would have stored the recordings. According to Sheriff Chris Nanos, the lack of recorded video left investigators without crucial visual evidence.
Recently, FBI agents began asking nearby residents an unusual question: whether they noticed internet issues on the night Nancy disappeared. Several neighbors reported experiencing connection problems, raising the possibility that a device may have interfered with wireless signals in the area.
Experts believe investigators are trying to determine if a Wi-Fi jammer or other communication device was used. Such technology could disrupt home security systems and potentially hide a suspect’s digital activity. Others speculate that two or more individuals may have coordinated the event using short-range radios.
Authorities are now analyzing router data, internet service provider records, and nearby cell tower activity. These digital clues may help identify unfamiliar devices or unusual signals in the neighborhood during the critical hours surrounding Nancy’s disappearance.
While the search continues, Nancy’s family is urging anyone with information to contact investigators as the case remains unresolved.
