😮Locals Rip Obama Over Latest Update To Controversial Presidential Library…

The Obama Presidential Center in Chicago is once again under fire following the release of new renderings, with significant criticism aimed at a newly added, nearly illegible inscription. An excerpt from Barack Obama’s 2015 Selma speech, meant to adorn the building, has been widely deemed difficult to read due to its unusual layout. Critics like Chicago Sun-Times architecture critic Lee Bay described it as having “lorem ipsum vibes,” while former investment banker John LeFevre and Temple University Professor Jacob Shell pointed out cut-off words and indistinguishable letters, calling it a “headache-inducing reading experience.” This design choice has also become fodder for online memes.

Beyond the inscription, the center’s overall architectural style continues to draw strong negative reactions. Some residents and critics, including conservative influencer Johnny Maga, have bluntly called the building “uglier,” likening its stark appearance to a “Death Star” or a “concrete tomb.” Local residents also expressed concerns regarding the center’s sheer size, its potential impact on traffic, and a perceived failure to reflect the vibrant character of the surrounding South Shore neighborhood, advocating for more accessible community spaces. The Obama Foundation, however, defends the design. Deputy director Kim Patterson explained that the building’s distinctive shape symbolizes “four hands coming together to show the importance of our collective action,” not an ominous presence. She also noted that the limited number of windows is intentional to protect valuable artwork and artifacts from sunlight. Valerie Jarrett, CEO of the Obama Foundation, confirmed President Obama’s active involvement in shaping the center’s design, which is slated to open in June.
