Signalgate: Leaked Chats Expose Links Between Walz, Anti-ICE Activists

Author:

A political scandal, dubbed Signalgate, has erupted in Minnesota following the leak of an encrypted Signal group chat, allegedly connecting individuals tied to prominent Democrats, including staffers for Gov. Tim Walz, with radical anti-ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) activists. Independent journalist Cam Higby infiltrated the group, known as “MN ICE Watch,” and published screenshots revealing a highly organized effort to track federal agents’ movements and coordinate obstruction protests in the Twin Cities area. Key figures implicated reportedly include Amanda Noelle Koehler, a former Walz campaign strategist, and local political candidates, who served as administrators or “dispatchers” within the network.

The findings detail a sophisticated, decentralized operation involving “patrols,” coded communications, plate-tracking databases, and the use of SALUTE codes to report agent activity and location. The group reportedly established rotating daily chats to evade detection, mentioning training sessions and a central “home base” for operatives. The leak has intensified scrutiny on Minnesota officials already facing federal inquiry—the Department of Justice issued subpoenas probing claims of interference with federal law enforcement. Federal sources confirmed they are reviewing the material for potential criminal violations, including obstruction of justice and conspiracy, while conservative lawmakers view the organization’s militia-like structure as confirmation of a political shadow network actively undermining federal immigration enforcement.
