JD Vance’s Early Dominance: Analysts Warn Democrats Underestimate the 2028 Frontrunner

Author:

Political analysts are increasingly bullish on Vice President JD Vance’s 2028 presidential prospects, with NewsNation contributor Chris Cillizza warning that Democrats underestimate his appeal “at their own peril.” This assessment is backed by early data, including an Emerson College poll showing Vance’s 46% favorability rating. CNN chief data analyst Harry Enten highlighted Vance’s commanding lead in GOP primary polling, registering 40% support, and emphasized the historical trend that early favorites often secure the nomination.

Vance’s traction is particularly strong among the conservative grassroots. A straw poll at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix showed overwhelming preference, with Vance securing 84.2% support, far outpacing rivals like Marco Rubio and Ron DeSantis. The conservative organization reinforced this support when CEO Erika Kirk formally endorsed Vance for 2028. Though Vance states he is currently focused on the midterms, he is already engaging potential Democratic rivals, targeting “California liberal[s]” like Gavin Newsom or Kamala Harris.
