Trump to Seek Millions In Damages From Fani Willis After Botched Prosecution

Author:

Former President Donald Trump is seeking nearly $6.3 million in attorneys’ fees from Fulton County, Georgia, following the dismissal of the 2020 election interference case. The charges, originally pursued by District Attorney Fani Willis under the RICO Act, were invalidated after the Georgia Court of Appeals ruled that Willis must be disqualified due to a “significant appearance of impropriety” regarding her relationship with former special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

Trump’s attorney, Steve Sadow, filed the motion, arguing that Georgia law mandates fee recovery when a prosecutor is disqualified due to improper conduct and the criminal case is subsequently dismissed. Sadow characterized the original indictment as a “politically motivated” and “ill-fated case” that was “rightfully dismissed.” While Willis plans to intervene against the fee recovery, she previously defended her aggressive prosecution before a Georgia Senate panel, insisting it was simply “another day of business.”
