The U.S. State Department has identified and shut down multiple networks across West Africa, Europe, and North Africa that allegedly coached foreign nationals on fraudulently obtaining visitor visas to give birth in the United States.

The coordinated effort involved U.S. embassies working with local authorities to dismantle operations run by companies that allegedly helped visa applicants prepare for consular interviews and arrange childbirth logistics in America. The Daily Wire first reported the existence of these networks.

Scope of Operations

A U.S. embassy in Europe identified more than 400 suspected birth tourism cases dating back to 2024, with investigators linking the activity to at least six companies that coached applicants and coordinated travel arrangements. The embassy in North Africa separately revoked more than 100 visas issued to individuals accused of traveling to the United States specifically to give birth.

Enforcement Actions

State Department officials revoked the visas involved in the scheme and imposed permanent travel bans on several individuals accused of participating. Consular officers partnered with law enforcement agencies and deployed data analysis tools to identify the networks and track their operations.
