Donald Trump criticizes the Kennedy family hours after the dies of JFK’s granddaughter

President Donald Trump shared critical posts about the Kennedy family on Tuesday evening, just hours after the family announced the death of Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of former President John F. Kennedy.

Schlossberg, the daughter of Caroline Kennedy, died following a battle with acute myeloid leukaemia. The Kennedy family confirmed her death through a social media statement describing her as “beautiful” and deeply loved.

Trump used Truth Social to repost comments from supporters criticizing the Kennedy family’s stewardship of the Kennedy Center. The posts did not directly reference Schlossberg’s death, but social media users flagged the timing as insensitive given the family’s public grieving.

What Led to the Posts

Trump formally renamed Washington, D.C.’s Kennedy Center to the Trump-Kennedy Center last week, a decision that drew swift criticism from members of the Kennedy family. Joe Kennedy III argued that the venue, established as a memorial to former President John F. Kennedy following his 1963 assassination, cannot be renamed under federal law.

Tuesday’s posts from Trump’s account accused the Kennedys of failing to adequately support the historic venue while crediting Trump with championing the arts.

The Family’s Response

The Kennedy family has not publicly addressed Trump’s remarks. Instead, relatives continued sharing tributes to Schlossberg’s memory on social media.

Maria Shriver described Schlossberg as “courageous” and “full of love,” while praising Caroline Kennedy’s strength. Family members focused their public statements on honoring Schlossberg’s legacy and encouraging others to cherish their lives.
