Former President Bill Clinton posted a video message thanking medical staff at UC Irvine Medical Centre after being discharged from a seven-day hospital stay.

Clinton released the statement Wednesday on his official social media account, expressing gratitude for the care he received during his recuperation. The former president also addressed supporters who reached out to him during the treatment period.

What Happened

Clinton was treated at UC Irvine Medical Centre for a urological infection that spread to his bloodstream, according to an aide who spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity. The aide stated Clinton never experienced septic shock and his condition improved during his hospitalization.

“His fever and white blood cell count are normalised and he will return home to New York to finish his course of antibiotics,” Alpesh Amin, chair of the Department of Medicine at UC Irvine Medical Centre, said in a statement.

Clinton’s Message

In the video, Clinton said, “I’d also like to thank the doctors and nurses at UC Irvine Medical Centre for the absolutely wonderful care that they gave me over the last seven days.”

He emphasized his commitment to continued involvement in public life, stating, “I, for one, am going to do my best to be around, to keep doing the most good I can, for a lot longer.”

Clinton also offered health advice to viewers: “I want to remind everyone out there: Take the time to listen to your bodies and care for yourselves.”
