A man was arrested Saturday at President Donald Trump’s Doral golf resort in Florida after refusing to comply with Secret Service agents at a security checkpoint.
The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. at a screening station staffed by federal agents and local officers. Michael Townsend, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Secret Service’s Miami field office, said the suspect became disruptive and failed to follow lawful orders.
“During the encounter, the individual became disruptive and failed to comply with lawful orders,” Townsend said. “He then made physical contact with a member of the Secret Service and was taken into custody without further incident.”
The Arrest
Doral police booked the suspect for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence. Officers transported him to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami following the arrest.
Video footage shared by conservative commentator Nick Sortor showed a man in handcuffs near the checkpoint. According to reports, the suspect triggered magnetometers while passing through the security screening area.
Authorities have not released the suspect’s name or disclosed information about the motivation behind the confrontation. Trump had visited the property earlier that morning with family members before leaving the grounds.
Security Context
The Cadillac Championship golf tournament drew large crowds to Doral that weekend, prompting enhanced security screening across resort entrances. Tighter protocols were in effect due to the event and presidential presence on the property.
The incident follows heightened scrutiny of Secret Service operations after recent security concerns involving Trump. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla., has questioned security measures and investigative procedures related to a previous incident.
