However, officials later clarified that the information was based on unverified intelligence.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt strongly criticized the report, arguing that it omitted key context. She emphasized that the warning stemmed from a single, unconfirmed tip lacking details about timing, targets, or methods. According to Leavitt, failing to include this information created unnecessary public concern. She publicly called for a retraction, stating that no credible threat from Iran to the U.S. homeland currently exists.

California Governor Gavin Newsom also moved to reassure residents, noting that both state and federal agencies are actively monitoring the situation and remain prepared to respond to any potential risks.

At the same time, the administration faces criticism from some conservative voices over its messaging surrounding Operation Epic Fury.
