Authorities have not made any arrests as the search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie entered its third week, despite a significant law enforcement operation Friday night that included a SWAT team and FBI personnel. Reports initially and erroneously said that three people had been arrested and a fourth person had shot themselves in the head.
Investigators executed a federal search warrant at a residence about two miles from Guthrie’s home in the Catalina Foothills late Friday, resulting in several detentions. Officials later confirmed that people taken in for questioning were released and that no one is currently in custody in connection with her disappearance.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told reporters that the operation was based on a specific lead but did not yield evidence directly locating Guthrie or identifying a suspect. The FBI continues to work with local law enforcement and is awaiting lab results from evidence collected during the search.
Authorities have previously determined that evidence at Guthrie’s home indicates possible foul play, including blood found on the porch consistent with her DNA and surveillance footage showing a masked individual at the house around the time she disappeared. Law enforcement has classified the investigation as a criminal case and is pursuing multiple leads.
The FBI has increased the reward for information leading to Guthrie’s location or the arrest of anyone responsible to $100,000. Officials have urged the public to share tips as the investigation continues.
The SWAT activity followed a Feb. 13 operation at a home in the same neighborhood. Sources close to the investigation said a man and a woman were detained at the house, and a third person was detained during a traffic stop. Also, a Range Rover vehicle was taken into custody.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the SWAT operation was connected to the Guthrie investigation.
A PCSD vehicle was seen blocking the roadway at East Placita De Graciela and East Camino de Michael. Details remain limited, and officials have said a statement is
