The intense search continues in Tucson, Arizona, for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” show host Savannah Guthrie, who was reportedly kidnapped from her home on February 1, 2026. Law enforcement, including the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, are treating the disappearance as a serious abduction. In a public and emotional appeal, Savannah Guthrie shared a video message directed at her mother’s abductor or anyone with knowledge of her whereabouts, urging them, “It’s never too late to do the right thing and we are here.” She reiterated the family’s enduring hope during this protracted ordeal.

Crucial forensic evidence has significantly advanced the investigation. Investigators recovered a glove approximately two miles from the Guthrie residence that yielded an unknown male DNA profile. This development was confirmed by the FBI. The retrieved glove generically matches the type worn by an armed, masked individual captured on surveillance footage tampering with a security camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door shortly before the abduction. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that the significant unknown DNA profile was submitted to a private lab for urgent analysis and is scheduled for entry into the federal Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) database after quality control, a process expected to take about 24 hours.
Law enforcement activities have recently intensified, marked by targeted searches and detentions, though no arrests have been made. Investigators executed a federal court-ordered search warrant near the victim’s home and briefly detained and questioned at least two separate men while tracking various leads—one stopped in Rio Rico and a second detained during a search in the Catalina Foothills. However, sources indicate that investigators are reportedly leaning away from both previously questioned individuals and any of Nancy Guthrie’s relatives as potential suspects. Sheriff Nanos cautioned that “Nobody is fully cleared” until the perpetrator is apprehended. Authorities continue to seek public assistance, offering a substantial reward of up to $100,000 for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s location or the arrest and conviction of those involved.
